Barcheys man is having a fit, he's cursing and yelling at everyone today. It looks like you got under his skin.
Are you kidding me? It's 0400, 62F, not muggy.. and there are swarms of flies outside. Moths, sure.. But flies? Mildred has nocturnal flies, black flies of all sizes, shapes; and varying irritation from bites. I spent most of my week in Mildred, "by choice", only b/c I'd feel guilty otherwise. I'm here now, b/c I'm doing my "Patient Care Report". The flies are driving me nuts, last week I broke the swatter trying to kill them, and put out a screen. The bay door was open for maybe 45 seconds while we backed the meat wagon in, and that was enough to let some in. They were everywhere outside at the fireman's fest, they were everywhere at the cub scout camp.. That can't be healthy, flies are a health hazard... and if they aren't, it's at least going to raise my BP till I get my "Civic Duty" finished and go home to my own fly-free town.
I've filed complaints, you know what happens? Some confrontational @$$bag calls. What are they going to do, hang giant flypapers from WWII Anti-Aircraft Balloons?
Can't open the basement (office) door, flies come in.. Can't spray Raid, it makes my lips numb, because I can't open the damn door to air it out... B/c more flies come in.
Thank you for letting the Department know of your concerns. Your complaint has been forwarded to the Moshannon District Mining office for attention. In the future, you may contact Ms. Tammy Cree who I’ve copied on this email regarding this matter.
Sincerely,

(My Reply - Which I CC'd to everyone from the DOH contacts I have, to the Dept. of Ag, Clean Air PA, Newspapers, etc.)
Mr. Miller,
I’d just like to take some time away from my business work for the volunteer ambulance corps, to thank you for your time, and all that you do. I sincerely appreciate your very political and vague response, in passing my public health concern off to the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation
I realize there is probably a great volume of complaints on this "Biosolids" mess up in the old mine land. Perhaps that's indicative of a problem that actually is affecting an entire population, even if it's just a small one. I only felt it was a serious public health threat, because after being outside most of the week, doing public service events, and a fundraiser; I have several painful bites from these large flies. The itch alone is very difficult to treat with over the counter oral and topical antihistamines or ointments.
Its times like this, that I wish the fire house had an AC System. Can’t leave the doors open, because of the flies; so I’m shut in up doing my three-plus hours of paperwork, with a can of raid, and a steaming hot building.
Perhaps I should have directed my concerns to the Department of Health, or Department of Agriculture? Since they’re spreading a fertilizer of sorts, in order to promote growth in an area that past industry decimated; I suppose that would be similar to farming?
I just wanted to take the time to apologize for bothering you with this issue, and to give you a warm hearted pat on the back, very warm. Once again, I’d just like to thank you, and express how much I sincerely do appreciate the time it took you to reply to my concerns. I felt it was right from the heart, which is why air conditioning came to mind. Obviously, you’re in a very cool structure.
Have a great day!
